One of the wingut right posters at Mt. Blogmore was trying to indicate that Saul Alinsky with his book Rules for Radicals was trying to use name-calling to attack the right. That was a typical assertion with little in the way of facts involved. Of course, he was also trying to suggest that any criticism of his rightwing mythology was obviously based on radical lefttist name-calling. I had a copy of the book, but some leftist borrowed it and never returned it. About all I remember is one of his ideas for generating the kind of chaos or irritation that would drive business or government into irrational reaction was the simple acts of a bunch of people chewing wads of gum and distributing them in inappropriate ways and places such as campus sidewalks and administration buildings..
Anyway, this evening PBS "Need to Know" had an interesting segment on "CarrotMob".

The idea of the group is that since business and corporations will do nearly anything for money, why not use some carrot variation rather than a stick like a boycott. Use the Carrot Mob ability to generate large crowds of buyers for businesses willing to use the increase in business to adopt greener technology or market organic foods, etc.
This was certainly a creative twist on ideas which might produce meaningful and beneficial changes in business behavior.
