Drat, I just can't decide if I am or am not going to run for President of the United States. I must confess I haven't been deluged with that suggestion nor have I had several million dollars of contributions dumped into the campaign coffers. But, gee whiz, it would sure be nice to have Airforce 1 to flit around the country even if I never played very good basketball.
My dogs haven't chewed on me lately, and I take that as a sign of approval. My wife is worried that without pandering to big banks, big insurance, big brokerages, and the obscenely rich that I would be a target for a never-to-be-investigated assasination. She's probably right since we still don't know anything about Cheney's mysterious energy panel meetings.
I have never been mayor of a small town either and that was a prime qualification just an election ago. It may be that Republicans decide being a Morman is essential by the time the next election comes around.
Unlike some potential candidates, I have not spent my whole life working or occupying space in a government appointed or elected position. Nor have I "worked" a few months and "earned" a half a million dollars..
But don't send contributions yet. A backporch campaign hasn't worked for many years ..and anyway, the edge of a tornado ripped off our porch this summer. That would make the light a lot better for hazy morning TV ads and inspiring tear-jerking "documentary ads" however. It isn't "morning America" every day here though. Sometimes it is frozen rear cold, with frigid wind and depressing gray skies followed by star-filled clear even more frigid nights.
I may have to put up a basketball hoop and start getting prepared.....but not until it warms up. No sense reading anything. Knowledge or lack of it does not seem to be a factor.
*** Stay tuned...especially if you don't think a good jumpshot and a brand new Bible are the only real qualifications for elective office---- Doug Wiken
I can't believe your as yet incomplete decision process hasn't made headlines at KELO yet. ;-)
