I cannot help but say, however, that those who were responsible for killing 3,000 Americans on September 11th, 2001, never apologized

Perhaps Mr. Lieberman never received the memo, but it may be crucial that someone informs him as to the involvement, or lack thereof, of Iraq in the attacks on September 11th.

Since the initial outrage the public displayed because of this newest scandal, many have voiced their opinions as to whether or not an apology is warranted. Frankly, I agree with a number of these people who have already stated that an apology is warranted because we should hold ourselves to a higher moral standard than that of those who have displayed so much vitriol towards innocent, American citizens.

As many of us are aware, following the September 11th attacks, many members of our Congress made a grave error in haste, allowing our civil liberties to be infringed upon for fear that these liberties which define us as Americans, could provide terrorists with yet another weapon. I believe that if we are to truly win a war against terror, then we must fight that war with the spirit of America and put our arrogance aside; only by defending our liberties shall we emerge victorious, for if the conflict ends with the United States being less than true to itself, what have we truly won?
