The complaints made against the doctor never roused the SD Medical Establishment to do anything or release any information even though some SD doctors were concerned for the lives and rights of his patients. The curtain of secrecy South Dakota slaps around doctors, lawyers, and other professionals is dangerous to the health and safety of their patients and associates.
Check the Argus or Cory Heidelberger's Madville Times for more details. The article indicates what the press can do when it digs and digs. This reminded my son of a story from a few years ago, and I finally dug around a bit and found the following About "Michael Swango":
In 1991, Swango legally changed his name to Daniel J. Adams and tried to apply for a residency program at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, West Virginia. In July 1992, he began working at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In both cases, he forged several legal documents that he used to reestablish himself as a physician and respected member of society. He forged a fact sheet from the Illinois Department of Corrections that falsified his criminal record, stating that he had been convicted of a misdemeanor for getting into a fistfight with a co-worker and received six months in prison, rather than the five years for felony poisoning that he served. Most states will not grant a medical license to a convicted felon, considering a felony conviction to be evidence of unprofessional conduct. He forged a "Restoration of Civil Rights" letter from Virginia Governor Gerald L. Baliles, falsely stating that Baliles had decided to restore Swango's right to vote and serve on a jury, based on "reports from friends and colleagues" that Swango had committed no further crimes after his "misdemeanor" and was leading an "exemplary lifestyle".
Swango established a sterling reputation at Sanford, but he made the mistake of attempting to join the American Medical Association (AMA). The AMA did a more thorough background check than the medical center and found out about the poisoning conviction. That Thanksgiving Day, the Discovery Channel aired an episode of Justice Files that included a segment on Swango. Amid the AMA report and calls from frightened colleagues, Sanford fired Swango. Kinney went back to Virginia soon afterward after suffering from violent migraines. After she left Swango, the headaches stopped.

Contrast the above with the current national corporate media fixation on the Malaysia Flight 370 that has disappeared. This morning on ABC TV, Martha Radditz said something like, "Everybody wants to know more about Flight 370".
Well not everybody. The real news about this has only two components:
1. The plane is missing, and 2. The plane or debris is found.
Everything between 1 and now is speculation and speculation about speculation and as news that speculation is all irrelevant blather.
The corporate "news" drama kings and queens exploit tragedy. Extended tragedies are easy cows to milk again and again. A child falls into a hole or crevice or a cat or dog gets into a dangerous bind and TV and radio commercial news starts squeezing the easy milker story and ignores the stories that require work.
No freedom of information claims and suits, no digging in archives, no embarrassing questions and answers to worry about, no laborious or dangerous detective work, no irritating of a corporate sponsor to sweat over.
Easy milkers take the public eye off real news that actually impacts their lives. Corporate manipulation of politicians and media and court gifted "personhood" for corporations are more newsworthy every day. And in the days since the plane and passengers disappeared, more people have been killed in the US by drunken drivers. Not a word on that transportation tragedy...not an easy milker.
Too much milk fat in the news covers up the real strories.
