This evening here in Winner, SD (June 21, 2014), the sky started looking ominous. Out here at the farm, the wind gusted to 31 mph. There were a few minutes of rain and a couple splatters of hail. Winner airport weather shows no precipitation yet however. The temperature nose-dived dropping from around 91F to 64F.
The sky is clearing some to the west, Most of the sky is yet dark clouds. Rain has mostly quit. Seeing weather like this makes it awfully easy to start thinking about the devasting weather that hit eastern SD in the last few days.
[[[[Note of June 22: Just checked Winner Airport Weather and with all the sturm and drang weather last night we got a whopping 0.09 in of rain. ]]]]]]
Maybe by tomorrow, I may have a few photos added to this post.
This afternoon, one of those ear worms hit me. I was pushing a grocery cart in a store when I saw a guy working there in the aisle. All my twisted mind could think of was "His Horn went beep, beep...." Not much more than that. The cart didn't have a horn, and I didn't "beep" at him, but I asked him about the "beep, beep" song. He was too young to have ever heard it. With the help of Google, the words of the dumb novelty song from around 1951, are known again...sort of anyway. Still a bit or rumbling thunder to the north. Lyrics for Thunder Rollin, Lightnin Flashing (good music to sing in bed on a stormy night) and also the lyrics that go with the Horn went Beep, Beep.
