Morning air was wet and cold and rain was falling. Apparently 3/4 inch or so of rain and then a few flakes of snow. Then this afternoon a few more flakes of snow. I went into a store, but when I came out flakes 3/4 inch across and soaking wet were splattering on cars. In the store lot, a little girl was standing next to her parent's pickup truck. It must have been the first snow she had ever seen. She was standing out getting wet, but with both hands up in the air trying to catch some of that snow. Of course I did not have my camera to catch that kind of wonderful awe at the simple, but beautiful.
Went home and got camera and by then there was about an inch of snow on grass and a shrubby tree had branches hanging. Below is a photo. Apparently KELO-TV is still unaware that snow fell west of Gregory, SD.
