Facebook discussions and blog discussions have turned up several good links on the XL Pipeline. These all suggest it really is not a good idea and a lot of lies have been told to justify the pipeline. In general, the Republican Party supports this destructive idea and it is hard to understand if it is their endemic hatred of Obama or a truckload of contributions from the fossil fuels industry. It is certainly not because the pipeline is in any way good for the US and the midwest.
This link is about the pipeline spill in North Dakota. This shows the incredible costs for cleanup of an oil leak. Consider what a leak like this would do to water resources, surface, river, reservoir, ground source.
That is enough reading for now. I will see if I can find more tomorrow; but these should be enough to convince most that Mike Rounds is on the wrong side of the XL Pipeline and thus on the wrong side of many good South Dakota values.
