As noted in posts below, SDPB had a photo contest. I hoped for a good sunset picture on Aug 19 since sunrises and sunsets were a couple things we never saw in Rochester, NY and really missed while we were there. Below is an image taken with cellphone. Did not have my camera with me of course. Not the greatest sunset photo by any means, but better than what I saw on Aug 19. Incidentally, I think the SDPB Landscapes "contest" brought in over 800 images that give an interesting insight into what people in South Dakota found interesting in one day. I noticed a couple other photographers from this area posted some interesting photos....Kendra Perry-Koski from Winner, and Julie Rhode from Colome, SD.

Some days are better photography days than others. The way it felt today for a few hours this morning, we might be taking snow pictures before too long. Kind of a scary thought right now. The city of Winner and the federal government are paying to put up an 8 or 10 foot high fence around the airport. Looks like it will make a really good snow fence set just right to cover the highway north of Winner if we get one of those wet snow storms from the north east. Looks like it might keep deer out of the airport, but any terrorists silly enough to attack the airport would cut through the square mesh fence in about one minute with a bolt or wire cutter. Why it is not about 200 feet from the highway is a mystery to me. All of the airport ground did not need to be fenced. Looks like a lot of wasted fence to me.
