While searching for information on the John Birch Society in Rapid City around 1964-65, I found next to nothing, but I did find a 1965 Business Directory from the Rapid City Journal at the Rapid City Library. You can find it at the link below, but it may take forever to download. Probably worth the wait if you are interested in comparing the Rapid City of Today with the Rapid City of 48 years ago. Incidentally, if you can remember the names of any of the John Birchers in Rapid City in those days, please let me know.
Rapid City population then was around 47,000. Something like 150 Minutemen missiles were in the ground around Rapid City territory. Ellsworth was home to B52 Bombers.
