Last Sunday, June 16, 2013, Bob Schieffer on CBS Face the Nation commentary dumped a load of crap regarding Edward Snowden and civil rights demonstrators. Schieffer busy feeding PC pap wrapped in the flag praised civil rights demonstrators which is perfectly OK and appropriate.
But, Schieffer suggested that part of the honor and integrity of the civil rights movement was the demonstrators and protestors willingness to go to jail for violating demonstration laws, etc.
The Scihieffer made the leap to the Edward Snowden disclosures of "secrets" we all should know about anyway and said that if Snowden were honorable, he would return to the US and accept his punishment. Schieffer conveniently missed the magnuitude of penalty differences when he was making his apples and oranges comparison.
Yesterday CBS news reported that the US Government is probably charging Snowden with espionage and theft of government property. I think we can conclude these have more serious penalties than a night in a crowded jail...even if a southern jail.
The interesting part of the "stolen property" charge is that our government has essentially stolen all kinds of data including names, phone numbers, calls, etc. And now is making that interesting theft claim I suspect because it can be part of extradition. In any case, it demonstrates there is no honor among thieves even if they happen to be governments or government contractees.
Schieffer apparently assumes that his listeners are all ignorant and not too bright. Some of his commentary edges into the absurdly irrelevant dribble category.
*** Stay tuned even if CBS will be back with "news" and our government will know you are watching..or reading this--- Doug Wiken.
