If you watch public television, you may want to check the new Dakota Today page in the left-hand column here. It is still a work in progress, but it might be useful. If you have any suggestions for programs, etc. links there, let me know.
In the world of television, public TV is usually a little light with useful, intelligent information and discussion. Seeing the program lists for commercial television suggests that crime, insanity, and inane "comedy" and generally disgusting programming are the main product in that vast wasteland. Local news is about the only exceptions there and that seems to get more and more devoted to sensational irrelevancy than real reporting or investigation.
NOVA last night was very interesting. Apparently new DNA studies of Neanderthal genetic code significantly changes perspective on the 30,000 years gone version of humans. They shared with us the "FOXP2" genetics that allows we modern humans to speak and communicate, Homo Sapiens apparently interbred with Neanderthals and in the process acquired 1 to 2% of our genetic code from them. One "gift" from the Neanderthals was immunity to many diseases that homo sapiens apparently had little resistance to. Europens still benefit from that.
Well enough of this. Let me know your suggestions on the new page.
