The last few weeks have been tough for my wife and her side of the family. A few weeks ago, her younger sister died in Arizona.
Her sister, Carol Jean (Wilcox) Janas had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1980, but had worked until a few years ago as nurse and educator in the Veterans Administration hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Her life might be some inspiration to those dealt lemons in life. She made lemonade of most of her problems and managed to lead a very productive life despite the disease symptoms, treatment and medications.
I am no doctor and don't even play one on TV, but it may be that those years of disease and medication finally caused her body to crash at age 62. If you are concerned, curious or were a college or high school classmate of Jean's, you can read her obituary at my notebook page link below.
Dakota Today Notebook..Obituary Page
My wife is back to work after flying to Phoenix for one of the military memorials and to visit her brother-in-law.. That sad trip was the first time she had been on a plane for 35 years or so.
My wife and I are both very sad that her sister's life was cut short, but living in intensive care with failed or near failed heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys is not a good life either. We can celebrate her productive life and not dwell on her passing.
*** Stay tuned, we will soon be back in high gear despite the frigid weather and family sorrow--- Doug Wiken.
