In July, I commented on a coffee maker. It was a dual function design making possible brewing a 12 cup carafe or a 12-ounce mug of coffee with two separate brewers in one. My review of that Hamilton Beach 2 in 1 pot is here The carafe leaks between the band that holds the handle and the glass. It dribbles. The silicone I tried worked for about a week and then started leaking again.
But, a new coffee toy caught my attention. It is a Black and Decker single mug brewer that True Value hardware is or was selling for about $12.(The B &D link shows the Stainless version for about $12.) It has a plastic mug which is nothing special but not bad. A $24 version has a stainless steel mug. It works. The single mug brewer on the Hamilton Beach also works, but this Black and Decker takes about 4 minutes to make a couple small cups of coffee. Only disadvantage of both of these is cleaning the permanent filter and that they require about twice as much coffee per cup to brew as do the pots making 12 cups. That extra coffee is the price of speed and small quantity.
Of course real coffee drinkers might want one of those $100 plus single-cup coffee makers with strange-sounding names that use really expensive or exotic coffee brews
Writing this has convinced me that it is about time for me to go drink a cheap cup of coffee mellowed with some plain old milk or garden-variety pseudo-cream powder. An oatmeal cookie or two also moderates the flavors.
*** Stay tuned, I may find something significant to write about ...like a book by Don C. Dahlin of USD titled "We The People". Looks like it may be a good review of the Constitutional Principles course I took from USD's Doc Farber about 40 years ago--- Doug Wiken
