If you missed the last Moyers and Company show on public TV, you can view the show on banking writing the rules.
Moyer and Company: Bankers Writing the Rules.
Interesting video from around 1999 with Sen. Tim Johnson pandering to the banking industry and Sen. Byron Dorgen of North Dakota correctly predicting the economic devastation that resulted as a consequence of repealing the Glass-Steaglall Act keeping bank deposits separated from speculative stock schemes.
Johnson was as somebody on another forum noted, a pearl-handled tool pandering to Citibank and providing the lines supporting the merger humbug of the bank lobbists. Dorgen correctly predicted the time frame for the devasation even if he admits in the Moyers program that the correct prediction was more luck than knowledge. His prediction regarding the bank/invested excesses likely to occur was a perfect gutshot at the lobbyist blather.
Too many of our Democratic senators, including Tim Johnson, are as corporate-oriented stooges and tools of the worst of the current and past Republican crony capitalists.
I wish the Moyers organization would decide their program DVDs should be priced at $5.00 so that the information can be affordably distributed. The $19.95 price I'm sure is to raise money for the programming, but that is a poor way to raise support that destroys the distribution of the information to people unable or unwilling to watch public TV.
