You get me thinking, Doug: does the fact that the Establishment responds more violently to Occupy than it ever has to the Tea Party indicate that Occupy threatens the powers-that-be while the Tea Party does not? Or does it simply indicate that Occupy has chosen more provocative, less cautious, and perhaps less judicious methods of protest?

Cory, I don't honestly know. I haven't seen much video suggesting that the OWS group brought any AK-47s to their demonstrations or sit ins. If you noticed a previous post with the message from the lobbyist group, the establishment is apparently assumed to fear a combination of the OWS and the TEA party bottom-end supporters realizing they have mutual interests. Trying to suck $800,000 out of the bankers to destroy the image of the OWS suggests something.

I could not see how threatening seated protestors were to police or anybody else. The police action verges into the area of being nearly war crimes. The apparent coordination of the police attacks on the OWS groups suggests that there are some powers that be which are putting pressure on other institutions to nip the OWS in the bud. I suspect it is a strategic error and likely only to get OWS more support rather than less..It may also be the case that the establishment knows the TEA Party is a Koch creation and the money can be shut off anytime it threatens the very rich --- Doug Wiken
