The collection of GOP mini-candidates hoping to occupy Obama's office permanently, have apparently noticed that the more they campaign and the more they debate, the worse they do in the polls. Heeding the old Familiarity breeds contempt adage, they are skipping state primaries and talking about skipping debates.
Frankly I have not been particularly happy with Obama and what appears to be his tendency to roll over in the face of irrational GOP ideology and attacks, but these Republicans combined are a catalog of what we don't want in a president of anything..even the local PTA would be a catastrophe waiting to happen with them in control.
The so-called mainstream media are still reporting GOP absurdity and nonsense economic mythology as if it has some basis in fact or history. South Dakota newspapers that I read seem to have about 10 times as much editorial and news reporting favoring Republican nonsense and mythology as they do of accurate descriptions of reality.
Perhaps the growth of the so-called Wall St. Occupiers is ringing alarm bells in the executive suites (and in their sweets) of the news monopolies. They are part of the reason we are in the economic mess we are in and pander to the advertisers who can toss ad money around like polluted water.
I noticed a bunch of editorials blindly supporting the Canadian XL pipeline runing across rivers and aquifiers in South Dakota and fawning coverage on the pixelated media. Then I noticed all those full and half page newspapers lauding our friends in Canada and all their tar sands oil. Then the organizations with fine-sounding names camouflaging their fossil fuel company sponsors were runing multiple ads on TV including both commercial and public.
We are getting the mushroom treatment from the media we used to trust.
