Guess it was about time. Finally got around to putting up a few political signs on lawn in Winner, SD. I find them better than their GOP alternatives, but do wish I could be a bit more enthusiastic for them. The signs in the yard will probably be about as close as Dakota Today gets to endorsements.
The election is rapidly approaching and it appears the McCain gang is getting more and more desperate if the vacuousness of the McCain-Palin charges is any indicator. Palin is saying something like, "Government must work for the people instead of the people working for the government." That has a nice ring to it of course, but it is also internally nonsensical. Unless government borrows and squanders as did the Bush administration, citizens must work to pay taxes to make government work for them. Palin is pushing a have your cake and eat it too bit of propaganda.
What McCain and Palin are trying to sell as they attack "wealth redistribution" is debt redistribution. Shifting the debt piled up by the Bush administration and from the broker/bank bubble bust onto the heads of those least able to pay instead of on those who benefit most from unfettered capitalism.
There is nothing "maverick-like" from McCain-Palin. It is all the same old same old Republican trickle-down borrow and squander BS. You may have been fooled once, twice, maybe three times by the GOP spin, but why shoot yourself in the foot again? Doing the same silly thing over and over again while expecting a different result is a sign of insanity.
