**I've got a secret..South Dakota hides state info
![]()
Apparently, South Dakota has found itself at the bottom or near the bottom of another category list. This one happens to be on state open information and freedom of information, etc. South Dakota seems to be mostly closed information and free of free information. Below is an image which might apply.
And by golly, in answer to the question, "Is there a bigger image available?", yes, there is click on the image for a slightly larger version.
I suspect for younger readers the image makes little sense. If you have forgotten John Daly, Arlene Francis, Bennett Cerf, and a few more and never saw the old black and white TV programs, you have no idea what the reference to "bigger than a breadbox" refers to.
Anyway, now and then I do wonder what these South Dakota Republicans are hiding. Why are they so concerned about secrets in a state which is wide-open and really shouldn't have any secrets at all?
Perhaps the legislature will figure out that they really do need to know more (or even something) about some state contracts, land settlements, deeds, leases, mineral leases to Mexican corporations, etc. etc. etc. Where did State prison industries buy all that cable that went into SD schools? Is that information available?
Of course your mileage may vary on this issue if your parole and pardon information is involved and maybe that is something that should only be available on a need to know basis rather than on a nosy neighbors irrelevant curiosity.
