**Who is Michael Bell and why does he write trash like this?

Some letters to the editor are so stupid and excessively partisan that they appear to be satire.
Here is one from the April 19, 2007 Rapid City Journal. The guy who wrote it may be a former candidate for Congress or Senate as a Libertarian or as a Republican. The name sounds familiar, but I don't know for sure.
Abolish the Democratic Party for SecurityThere has been a lot of talk about the “evil” acts of George W. Bush and his war on terrorism. While I don’t necessarily agree with the whole concept of war, his opponents, mainly the Democrats, are doing far more damage than Bush ever has.
I was horrified that Nancy Pelosi visited the president of Syria, a known terrorist sympathizer. I am equally horrified that she is considering giving the terrorist president of Iran materials to continue their nuclear project. It is bad enough that she has to visit these evil people. But to give them the materials they need is borderline treason.
Come to think of it, the Democratic Party is committing treason even as we speak. When you sympathize with an enemy of your country, it’s called treason. When you plan a withdrawal from the battlefield thereby causing your country’s defeat, it’s called treason. The Democrats care only about their own agenda, and they are so irrational in their hatred of Bush that they would go so far as to hand America to the terrorists if it meant getting rid of him.
If I were president, I would abolish the Democratic Party for reasons of national security.
MICHAEL BELL
Rapid City
Bell seems to exhibit mostly ignorance of the constitution and US history, the meaning of words, unsubstantiated assertions presented as facts, and a few other logical errors or propaganda excess. Do you really think an adult male would be "horrified"?
There is an op ed colum or comment in the ARGUS Leader today nearly as dreadful from Karl Adam the Chairman of the SD Republican Party. Maybe later on that bit of idiocy.
**Stay tuned..next he will want to abolish blogs and newspapers--except the ones that print his letters of course--- Doug Wiken
