**E-Books..Not

Tim at Prairie Progressive Blog writes on E-Books. I must say I pretty much agree. I don't know how old Tim is, but I am old enough to like reading my news and books on paper. Check Tim's comments. He writes a more erudite perspective on this.

I would like to see the Sony E-paper device that works a bit like an electronic sheet of paper that has "ink" that can be set to a "page of text" and turned off and it will still be readable just like a sheet of paper..or something to that effect. It uses "ink" that has white on one side and black on the other. These particles can be flipped white or black and stay that way without added power. The device available now is apparently about the size of a paperback book. My guess is that what is hoped for in the long run is something that almost looks and feels like a newspaper page and is about the same size.

Ironic that some newspapers such as the ARGUS LEADER apparently think they have to make their paper look more and more like a web page with all those deficiencies while giving the impression the paper has shrunk to nothing in the way of news but with a lot of decorative space filler and entertainmet trash. "News" includes a mixture of peculiarly dumb opinions and assertions rarely fact-based dredged from ARGUS electronic side blogs and forums.
I am thinking about adding a blog to this one that has a few "ads" and not a lot of daily comment. Those of you have seen all the ads here don't need to wait for them to load every time. Maybe I will take advantage of TypePads system for hyping books via Amazon. I just ordered three that seemed interesting. If I like them after reading them, might as well try to make a buck making it easy for you to get them. Sounds good now. Maybe I will change my mind tomorrow.
**Stay tuned it is a smaller world than you really thought and as Kurt Vonnegut apparently said something like, "It is your world and life and the best you can do is fart around and don't let anybody convince you it is anything more than that." Maybe that paraphrase will convince you never to buy a book I might write--- Doug Wiken
